Directed by Dilek Ince AMAL tells the story of an American volunteer doctor named Mary, who witnesses a tragic event that leaves a young Syrian girl named Amal without a family. Mary decides to adopt the young girl as her own daughter, but problems arise in the process when a travel ban is placed on Syrians traveling to the United States.

Directed by Natalie Meza April, a dark-humored and quick-witted millennial, goes on a date with Thomas, one of her online matches, in hopes of making a connection and ridding her of her loneliness. As April begins to lose interest in Thomas, it is revealed that both her and her date have stalked each other online. This quickly turns the date into a battle of wits and insults, but they surprisingly find joy in their bickering. After an incident with a clumsy waitress and a conversation with another woman in the restroom, April becomes self-conscious and walks out. Thomas stops her and this leads to an outpour of honesty from both of them. The story ends with April having realized that things online can be fake and superficial, and in order to be happy she needs to focus on what’s real.

Directed by Jessica Freund It is 1953, North Korea. The Korean War is coming to its end as both sides become aware of the inevitable divide between the northern and southern territories. Two Korean sisters, Young-Hee and Jung-Sook, escape the captivity of North Korean Communist Soldiers and head towards the 38th Parallel to find freedom and their family. Spring Semester 2017 CTVA 350 Directing Short Film Project Shot strictly in a production sound stage with good but limited resources. We came across some issues, naturally, but we got it done. We made it rain on a stage that wasn’t allowed to get wet and we used gel filters as makeshift window glass. Shoutout to my awesome production team! P.S.
